Detailed chemical analysis of 40 drill-core samples (reported on whole-coal and laboratory-ash basis) from the Wind River Basin r Wyoming, indicate that 29 of the coals are subbituminous A, B, and C in rank. Eleven samples are bituminous C in rank, probably the results of intense deformation in the northwestern corner of the basin and depth of burial in the central part of the basin. The quality of the Wind River Basin coal is similar to other sampled western subbituminous coals. Chemical elements which are of environmental concern are found in the Wind River Basin coal beds in approximately the same concentrations as they are found in other sampled western subbituminous coals.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
