This paper presents the results of applying a component-based control software architecture to robotic workcell applications. Robotic workcells are introduced, the underlying technology is discussed, and an overview of the software architecture is presented. Next, the results and experiences of applying the architecture to seven industrial applications are described in detail. As the results indicate, software reuse levels in excess of 90% are achieved. The paper concludes with a summary and discussion of future work.Index Terms-Component-based software, flexible manufacturing systems, robotic workcells.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
