Correlations are developed to relate the critical feed temperature, corresponding to blow-off conditions, and the critical catalyst-bed entrance temperature to the operating and design parameters of autothermal reactors with internal countercurrent heat exchange. The proximity of the blow-off conditions to the optimum point of operation makes the correlation of the critical operating temperatures highly significant. Use is made of both irreversible and reversible first-order reactions. The capabilities of the correlations are illustrated with the water-gas shift reaction treated as pseudo first order.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
