The marked differences in the suitability of different Eucalyptus spp. for growth of the larvae of Uraba lugens was further investigated. It is suggested that non-larval food-plants and poor larval food-plants regularly selected as 'egg hosts' may provide a substrate for the development of resistant strains or biotypes assuming the occurrence of matings between individuals that survive and genetic basis for survival in such difficult food-plants.
