Abstract-The sequence of design activities is vital, particularly in interdisciplinary projects.Sequencing of activities is influenced by the information dependency among the activities. The dependency relationships among the design activities in a project are of three types -independent, dependent and interdependent or loops. Interdependent activities (or loops) require assumed information to start and progress. If these assumptions are erroneous, it can lead to rework of a single or a group of dependent activities. One of the challenges in planning the sequencing of design activities is to decide on appropriate information or assumptions which can be made to break the interdependent activities (or loops). A prototype software also had been developed in Excel VBA for implementing the methodology. The proposed concepts are illustrated through application to Induced Draft Cooling Tower (IDCT) projects. This illustration is multidisciplinary in nature consisting of mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation. The proposed concept has proven fruitful and hence this approach is anticipated beneficial for construction applications.

Construction industry involves a multitude of stakeholders who perform their work from disparate locations. This involvement of numerous stakeholders, which is common in construction industry compared to the other industries, has led to conceptual fragmentation. In spite of this fragmentation, the construction industry delivers complex projects with limitations. The limitations can be mostly attributed to the difficulties in achieving the optimum levels of collaboration, coordination, and communication (referred as three C's) which are required for efficient project delivery.Shifting from a two-dimensional design documentation, the industry has recently embraced Building Information Models (BIM) that allow an information rich visualization of the facility during feasibility analysis stage enabling efficient information transfer among the stakeholders. Deploying the BIM in the 'cloud' can further enhance the project integration through the near optimal levels of the three C's. Very few researchers have investigated that the modifications made to the BIM can promote post project delivery functions too in a seamless fashion. To incorporate this, the authors had proposed a conceptual framework using BIM on the cloud for construction project life cycle. This framework is described in this paper. The utility of the framework is also discussed.
The blockchain is an incorruptible digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value. Blockchain technology makes breakthroughs in business intelligence in many areas such as banking sector, finance, judiciary, commerce, and information technology. Web service compositions have a revolutionary impact on business intelligence by enabling loose coupling, data consolidation from diverse sources, consolidation of information under a single roof, easing ad-hoc querying and reporting. The objective of current work is to investigate the applicability of blockchain for the semantic web service composition process. The paper focuses on design of conceptual architecture and the algorithm for QoS-aware semantic web service composition (SWSC) using blockchain.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
