Electron microscope is used to study the dependence of the densities of grain interior dislocations and extrinsic grain boundary dislocations (EGBD's) in plastically deformed aluminium. The experiments show that the grain interior dislocation density increases with strain but the random high‐angle grain boundaries are free from EGBD's which can be observed only on special boundaries (i. e. coincidence or low and medium angle). This behaviour of different types of grain boundaries can be explained in terms of EGBD core width after spreading which cannot exceed the grain boundary period of special boundaries.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
