In this paper, miniaturization of the asymmetrical profiled corrugated horn with low sidelobes, low cross-polarization, and good beam symmetry is presented. The miniaturized corrugated horn is designed at 2.48 GHz and optimizes the result between the frequency sweeps of 2 GHz to 4 GHz. At design frequency, the result of the S11 Parameter is -30.2966 dB, and the S11 Parameter remains below -20 dB between 2 GHz to 4 GHz. The asymmetrical profiled corrugated horn comprises the Gaussian Profiled Corrugation part and the most widely used Variable Depth Slot Mode Converter. The purpose of the mode converter is to generate hybrid mode in the corrugated horn antenna. The length of the asymmetrical profiled corrugated horn antenna after applying the miniaturization technique is only 3.5λ long. The designed horn full-fill the number of S-Band applications such as Satellite communication, Radio astronomy, Weather Radar, Surface ship radar.
A conformal metamaterial absorber operating at the quad band is analyzed in this paper. The proposed structure is fabricated on a 0.5 mm thick, flexible polyester dielectric substrate. The proposed structure works at the chosen frequencies 4.11 GHz, 5.37 GHz, 7.39 GHz, and 8.4 GHz with the absorptivities of 96%, 95%, 90%, and 94%, respectively. The structure has the essential novelty of miniaturization of λ/146 in the thickness, which is an exceptionally flexible material for Radar applications. Quad band excitation can also be analyzed by the iteration of the proposed structure as well as circuit analysis. The flexible polyester material is etched with silver coating for the development of the fabricated structure. The simulated results can also be associated with the measured ones from the planar as well as a cylindrical surface to realize flexibility for stealth technology. It can be accomplished by the free space measurement technique in an anechoic chamber.
In this chapter, the novel design of the corrugated horn antenna is presented. The axially corrugated Gaussian profiled horn is a dual profiled corrugated horn antenna. The corrugated horn is a novel design for S-band applications. The corrugated horn has a length of 2.6λ and an aperture radius of 1.3λ only. The S -parameter and cross-polarization of the novel corrugated horn are better than −20 dB for the whole S-band. The novel corrugated horn is compact in size with broader bandwidth performance.
In this paper, a wideband polarization-independent broad angular insensitive absorber is proposed with miniaturization novelty. A 12 * 12 octagon element with parasitic elements interconnected by lumped resister has been fabricated on an FR4 structure with an air gap. Large air gap and lower thickness of substrate material as well as corner notched rectangular with octagonal shape causes the improvement of bandwidth. The proposed wideband absorber exhibits absorptivity above 90%. The same has been achieved from 2.84 GHz to 9.12 GHz with 6.27 GHz fractional bandwidth in TE and TM configurations with an angle from 0 • to 30 • . The design is λ/6.67 in size and λ/3.33 in thickness miniaturization at the highest cutoff wavelength. The outcome from the proposed model is highly promising and closely matches the simulated configuration. This design has a vital application in absorbing the signal from aircraft, missiles, submarines, satellites, and radar, termed stealth technology.
