JEL classification: O34, G01, L66Both the financial crisis of the first decade of the 21st century, as well as the deterioration of trade relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation were events that significantly affected the functioning of the largest listed companies on the food market: on the one hand, aggravating the conditions of economic functioning, on the other hand creating a stimulus to seek new innovative solutions to help companies survive on the market. The aim of the work was to present the impact of crises on the intellectual capital of WIG-Food index companies, which is an indirect measure of innovation. The MV/BV and q-Tobin index were used for the study, as well as selected quantitative methods: multiple regression, Ward's method and seasonal additive decomposition. The results of the work indicate that the companies are divided into two groups, within which similar trends in shaping intellectual capital are observed. In addition, one of the groups clearly noticed the impact of the financial crisis and the introduction of an embargo on the shaping of intellectual capital.
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the socio economic
development of different regions of Poland and the number and structure of
the most frequent crimes committed in them. The study clearly shows that crimes related
to corruption and theft are most frequently committed in the richer regions of Poland,
while the number of crimes related to damage to property decreased with the level of
socio-economic development. Among the analyzed crimes, the highest correlation with
macroeconomic variables was observed in the case of theft and corruption crimes;
a particularly strong relationship was found between corruption and the level of GDP and
wages, and between the number of thefts and the stock of housing and the level of GDP in
the regions. Moreover, the structure and number of crimes in the poorest regions of Poland
show many similarities, with five of the eight poorest regions in eastern Poland showing
a relationship between the number and types of crimes.
The transport, forwarding and logistics (TSL) sector in Poland has seen dynamic growth in recent years. Great attention is paid to road freight transport, which in 2011-2017 increased by almost 37%. The aim of the work was to examine the impact of macroeconomic variables, such as oil prices and USD / PLN and EUR / PLN exchange rates on the valuation of companies from the TSL sector in 2010-2018. For this purpose, spectral analysis was used. It was noted that companies most often reacted to changes in the USD / PLN exchange rate, and the least was observed in the case of changes in oil prices.
The economic sanctions imposed by the European Union in March 2014 on the
Russian Federation were caused by Russia's unlawful annexation of Crimea, which exploited
the political crisis in Ukraine. In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree
on August 7 prohibiting the importation of selected groups of agri-food commodities from
countries that previously imposed sanctions. The article focuses on an attempt to describe the
effects of the introduced trade restrictions on the functioning of the agricultural market in
Poland. Spectral analysis, simple regression and comparative methods were used for the
study. The study showed that the trade restrictions introduced had the character of structural
changes in the export and import of Polish products, but did not significantly contribute to the
functioning of the market itself. The trade restrictions introduced have contributed to a
significant reduction in trade between Russia and Poland in 2014-2016 however, there is a
gradual improvement in trade relations with Russia, the value of both imports and exports is
steadily increasing with each subsequent year.
