This chapter discusses the more general properties of the optimum income tax schedule and the rules governing these properties. A discussion of special cases is also included, along with the presentation of numerical results. It is important to note that the discussions in the chapter are based on seven simplifying assumptions, which are relayed in the first part of the chapter.
