The crystal structure of ferrichrome A, the ferric chelate of a natural siderophore, was redetermined, confirming the earlier published structure [Zalkin, Forrester & Templeton (1966). J. Am. Chem. Soc. 88, 1810-1814. The crystal structure of alumichrome A was determined and shown to be isomorphous with ferrichrome A. Both molecules crystallized in the monoclinic space group P2~, with cell parameters [at 128 (2) The only significant differences between the two structures are observed in the immediate environments of the metal ions. It also appears that in both compounds the metal ion is not in the center of the distorted octahedral coordination sphere.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
