Although the research techniques reported here are first generation, the authors produce results that suggest the idea of hierarchy of basic organizational needs is worth further research. The authors outline their rationale for the needs hierarchy, present data secured during an application of this concept in a study of administrative financial decision making in private liberal arts colleges, and discuss the usefulness and limitations of their findings.
