The present study aimed to present a literature review on animal husbandry experiences in order to identify the feasibility of animal production in urban and periurban agriculture as a food security instrument, observing its limitations and potential. A systematic literature review was carried out on the topic and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses methodology was used to select the articles. From the data analysis, the understanding emerged that animal husbandry in urban and periurban areas has existed for hundreds of years and has always been present in several cities around the world. This practice can represent an inevitable challenge, with positive aspects, such as being an ally of domestic food security and enabling the generation of income and employment, as well as negative aspects, such as the presence of odors, noise and dissemination of zoonoses. Faced with this conflict, as well as the verification of the feasibility of this practice, the importance of public policies capable of organizing the activity, minimizing health risks and possible resulting conflicts is highlighted.
The persistence of poverty in semiarid regions resides, among other difficulties and limitations, in the inability to use its endogenous elements in a rational way. Thus, this article aimed to investigate the content of total phenolic compounds in the pulp and residues of quixaba fruits (Sideroxylon obtusifolium) in ethanol extracts and evaluate properties (pH, acidity and soluble solids) essential to the fermentation process with a view to developing products for school meals and also low-alcohol beverages capable of generating income for the local population from the use of an endogenous resource available in the legal reserve areas of the Palestine Settlement located in the municipality of Cravolândia, Bahia. In addition to documentary studies, the chemical characterization of quixaba fruits was carried out. An analysis of all parts of the quixaba fruit, in terms of total soluble solids content, pH and acidity, indicates potential for its agro-industrial processing. In addition, the high ° Brix indicates that the pulp has sugar levels that make it ideal for flavoring yogurts that can be offered at school lunches. The phenolic compounds present in different parts of the quixaba indicated a possible antioxidant potential. Even though the use of quixaba is currently neglected, it is possible to use it agro-industrially.
Esta pesquisa objetiva analisar, no Assentamento Palestina, em Cravolândia-BA, aspotencialidades para o desenvolvimento local endógeno considerando o zoneamento daárea, aptidões do solo, percepção dos próprios assentados sobre as oportunidades,fraquezas e ameaças existentes, bem como experiências semelhantes que se apoiaram nouso de tecnologias sociais como ferramentas facilitadoras da convivência no semiárido.Sobre os aspectos metodológicos, tivemos como sustentação teóricas referências quecompõem as categorias centrais do nosso objetivo, assim como instrumentos documentaispara alcançar os elementos locais atinentes ao assentamento. Como resultado, inferimosque o reconhecimento do semiárido como uma região próspera, aliado ao uso daspotencialidades endógenas, como por exemplo, das espécies com aplicaçõesagroindustriais, constituem um caminho para que as áreas de reserva legal possam serbeneficiadas, articulando as tecnologias sociais ao desenvolvimento local endógeno dacomunidade.
