Wearable sensors are emerging trend and can be found in various application areas, including healthcare and home care, where they can provide important information about wellbeing, condition and activities of user and his/her behavior. Long-term data analysis can contribute by identification or even prediction of possible diagnosis or threat and for such reason, walking speed and hip extension angle can be useful tools for long-term based behavioral analysis. This article deals with evaluation of method for walking speed estimation and assessment of feasibility of accelerometer for hip extension angle monitoring. While proposed method for walking speed estimation has some limitations, it tends to be reliable. On the other hand, accelerometer for observing hip extension angle is not suitable due to the fact that when it is subject of translational movement, random error it introduced into measurement.
This paper deals with robotic exoskeletons and their using in rehabilitation of the upper limbs. First part describes application of robotic devices in rehabilitation. In the second part there is described an architecture of rehabilitation robotic system and its main subsystems. Third part of the proposed paper is dedicated to robotic exoskeletons. This section deals with internal and external force action in exoskeletons. In the last part of the paper, there is shown design of robotic exoskeleton for the upper limb.
Wearable sensors are bringing innovative approach in research of smart environments, tele-monitoring and home care services. Average walking speed is one of the suitable indicators of state, condition and activities of patient along with observing of hip extension angle. The proposed article is aimed on study of accelerometer usability for monitoring of such parameters from view of long-term perspective. The article is divided into the following sections: the first section describes analysis of current state-of-art and motivation for such research, the second section is devoted to description of sensors and methodology of experimental verification and methods of data processing and the last section deals with data evaluation.
