A VA-mode PI possessing photo-reactive side chains, has the ability of pretilting LC without any rubbing treatment was demonstrated. With this PI layer, the uniformity of the pretilt distribution would be better than the conventional VA mode, which in turn leads to high quality and much reliable VA LCD.
We have mentioned a new fabrication for patterned retarder 3D display is presented. The main method mixed reactive monomer and photosensitive monomer and then used mask and UV light to achieve different odd retardation and even retardation. Compared with the conventional fabrication, we eliminate the PI process, decrease TACT time, and solvent less. Therefore, we don't need PI coating and PI rubbing process and then saved a lot of equipment and energy that be belong to green 3D display. In this paper, we developed "Mask Key" and "Sub-Pixel Mode" LC barrier shutter methods by electrical control and combined these two methods to fabricate 15.4 inch 2D/3D arbitrarily switchable autostereoscopic 4-view display successfully. It is the first time 3D display can auto-switch between 2D and 3D mode in the world. Besides, clear 2D and 3D image can be displayed in the same time.
In this paper, we have succeeded to develop a 10.1-inch Reflective Display by using proprietary Surface Anchoring Liquid Crystal(SALC) and high performance Front-Light Module for Display in dim light. The display shows outstanding performance which can play video and full-color image. In addition, there are some advantages, such as, polarizer free, driving voltage satisfied with active-matrix TFT, and so on.
In this paper, a real 3 inch panel showing high transmittance 15% and colorful images is demonstrated by polymerization induced phase separation(PIPS) method. It can be worked in low driving voltage as low as 5V. The research still faces difficulties in measurements and droplet stabilization. It might be improved in the future.
