Construction projects run the risk of not conforming to the initial expectations of development. It is very difficult to estimate the time of a project because a project is not repetitive, there are different challenges in each development project. Delay in completing a project will cause waste in the form of overtime and overbudget. This research was conducted using judgment sampling to 5 respondents who were expert contractors. The objectives to be achieved through this research are to identify the dominant factors causing delays in a residental project using the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method and modeling the relationship between the factors that cause delays in residential construction projects using the Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) method. The result of this research is the existence of 8 levels of sub-factor hierarchical structure which becomes the framework for contractors and project owners to reduce the risk of delays in residential construction projects. The dominant causes of delays in project development are design changes during construction, late delivery of materials, late approval of work drawings, late payments, and inappropriate work methods.
Rework can bring negative effect to construction project. This research aims to identify the importance level of factors causing reworks in structural, finishing, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works by a way of importance performance analysis (IPA). In order to reach this objective, the research evaluates the degree of occurrence the factors in each type of works and analyzes the level of difficulty in preventing the occurrence of the factors. The results are based on questionnaire survey, involving general and MEP contractors in Surabaya. Design related factors are the most frequent and most difficult to prevent in structural and finishing works. In MEP works, the most frequent factors are tight construction duration and unclear instructions from owner and designer; whilst insufficient owner’s capital is the most difficult to prevent. The research finds two factors that have high importance level, i.e. design changes and insufficient detail drawings.
In Indonesia, 99.8% of the businesses are SMEs. However, those SMEs only contribute to the 56.7% of the Indonesia GDP. This happened, mainly due to the limitations of SMEs which use traditional technologies in the production process. Therefore, in 2014, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Cooperation and Small Medium Entreprises launced a new strategic plan to empowering the SMEs by applying the Advanced Manufacting Technology (AMT). It is believed that applying the AMT in the SMEs can increase productivities, expand the market share and raised national economic growth. This study, identified the used of AMT in the Indonesia SMEs, especially in foods, beverages, herbal and handicraft sectors. Additionally, it is also measured the impact of the used of AMT in the SMEs' performaces. In this study, it is found that 76.6 % of the total sampel (253 SMEs) declared that they use the AMT. This indicates that the Indonesia SMEs have a clear operation mission, process production, high quality products and meet the customer's satisfaction. It is also found that the percentage of the hard technology is higher than the soft technology. This showed that there is a large effort to increase the productivity in the process production. Finally, we found that the impact of the AMT used to the SMEs' performance in the market share, profitability and organization performance is increased significantly.
Feng shui adalah sebuah ilmu yang mempelajari bagaimana cara manusia untuk hidup selaras dengan alam dan lingkungan sekitar. Prinsip feng shui pada dasarnya sederhana, karena mengikuti pola yin yang atau keseimbangan. Sehingga dengan penerapan nilai-nilai feng shui yang baik pada rumah tinggal, maka akan memberikan kenyamanan bagi penghuni rumah dan memberikan nilai serta harga jual yang lebih tinggi. Perumusan masalah dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa dalam faktor feng shui yang dipertimbangkan oleh penghuni. Kemudian mencari adanya hubungan antara unsur feng shui yang dipercaya dengan penerapan terhadap penyelesaian masalah feng shui secara desain dan non-desain. Chi square digunakan untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan antara prinsip feng shui dengan aplikasinya. Hasil yang ditemukan menunjukkan bahwa faktor feng shui yang paling dipertimbangkan oleh penghuni rumah tinggal yang bermasalah menurut prinsip feng shui adalah faktor denah rumah. Dan didapatkan hasil yang menyatakan bahwa adanya hubungan antara kepercayaan terhadap faktor feng shui dengan penerapan pada faktor bentuk kapling, faktor benda di sekitar bangunan, faktor posisi rumah terhadap jalan, faktor bentuk bangunan, faktor denah rumah, dan faktor nomor rumah, cermin feng shui dan ba gua.
