Currently, tourists spend a lot of time planning their trips because they need to make the most of every moment. In this sense, technology has been a great ally, especially when performing and adapting this planning in the event of some unforeseen event during the journey. And the emergence of distinct types of mobile devices was presented as an opportunity to improve the experience of tourism significantly. In this context, this chapter aims to identify the main computing needs to a mobile application to support the promotion of tourist sites for the traveler. The authors adopted a literature review as the research methodology. The main result of this chapter is the proposal of the Urbis prototype, an application that aims to help tourists to know better the cities they are visiting, even in the absence of local information or a specialized tour guide.
História do design, Memória gráfica, Recife, Elites urbanas, Modernidade As primeiras décadas do século XX no Recife representam importante momento na construção do ideário de progresso. A "fantasia da modernidade" se tornava real a partir da assimilação de novos valores culturais e da renovação de hábitos, costumes e comportamentos sociais. Sobre esse tempo e hábitos nos fala o Almanak Litterario Pernambucano para 1912-1913, periódico de luxo impresso em tricromia em Paris e em cujas páginas figuram anúncios de empresas pernambucanas ricamente ilustrados por artistas estrangeiros. Este artigo discute a representação visual dos produtos e serviços presentes no Almanak naquele contexto de consolidação da República e de modernização do país via industrialização e urbanização; levando em consideração a própria condição de produção do Almanak Litterario enquanto um documento histórico e artefato impresso, entendendo-o capaz de mostrar, na sua materialidade, intenções e significados não de todo revelados. Assim, o trabalho traz à tona aspectos da vida urbana e ideários das elites presentes na construção de uma imagem para a cidade e para suas vidas pública e privada. Graphic design, Graphic memory, Recife, Uban elites, Modernity The first decades of the twentieth century are for Recife an important moment in its concept of progress. The fantasy of modernity became a reality, through the assimilation of new cultural values and the renewal of habits, mores and social behaviors. The Almanak Litterario Pernambucano from 1912-1913 tells us about that time and lifestyle. Luxuriously printed in trichrome in Paris, richly illustrated by foreign artists, it presents advertising from Pernambuco companies. This article discusses the products' and services' visual representation in the Almanak in the context of consolidation of the Republic and its modernization through industrialization and urbanization. The almanac itself is presented here as a historical document and printed artefact; capable of revealing, in its materiality, intentions and meanings. Thus, the work brings to the fore aspects of urban life: ideals of the elites present in the construction of an image for the city and for their public and private lives.
