eResistance to carbapenems in Enterobacteriaceae is a clinical problem of growing significance. Difficulty in treating multidrugresistant Gram-negative organisms with conventional antibiotics has led to a renewed and increasing use of polymyxin compounds, such as colistin. Here, we report the isolation of carbapenem-and colistin-resistant Enterobacter cloacae from a polymicrobial lower extremity wound in an ambulatory patient. Whole-genome sequencing demonstrated the presence of chromosomal bla IMI-1 and bla AmpC , as well as numerous efflux pump genes.
Page 3142, Table 2: the annotation of two efflux pumps as mex was incorrect and the bla AmpC gene was improperly labeled as "class A." The corrected Table 2 is shown below.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
