CLINICAL PRESENTATION A 65-year-old man with a medical history of type 2 diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia was admitted to the hospital for elective surgery to resect an enlarging mucinous pancreatic cyst. His home medications included canagliflozin, 300 mg, daily; rosuvastatin, 20 mg, daily; glipizide, 5 mg, twice daily; and sitagliptin/metformin, 50/1,000 mg, twice daily. The patient tolerated the procedure well and was transferred postoperatively to a surgical floor with unremarkable laboratory values (Table 1). He did well in the immediate postoperative period and was tolerating clear liquids by postoperative day 3. His blood glucose level was regulated by short-acting insulin doses. His outpatient medications were not administered in the hospital.
