MoS 2 thin films have been deposited onto 52100 steel substrates by aerosol-assisted chemical vapor deposition using the metal-organic precursor tetrakis(diethyl-dithiocarbamato)molybdenum(IV) (1). Analysis of the films indicates growth of an initial, highly crystalline FeS layer exhibiting preferred orientation parallel to the substrate, followed by growth of MoS 2 nanoparticles. Friction coefficients for MoS 2 -coated steel specimens reach 0.10 when tested at 100 °C in air. Tetrakis(tert-butylthiolato)titanium(IV) (2), dissolved with complex 1 in THF solutions, yields nanoparticle films of variable TiO 2 content as a result of solvent decomposition on MoS 2 and subsequent in situ reaction with the titanium precursor.
These findings provide evidence that the F-ERIQ is a reliable and valid instrument for assessing psychosocial stress at work among Farsi-speaking male employees. We propose that F-ERIQ be further evaluated across a variety of jobs and industries.
Time-specific safety interventions could be used in the risk management of occupational injuries. Further studies to investigate the effect of time-dependent interventions are recommended.
Background A lack of information on the overall characteristics of work-related injuries in Iran holds back the development of effective injury prevention strategies.
AimTo evaluate characteristics of work-related injuries in a synthetic fibre factory in Iran.
MethodsThis study reports a 16-year (1991-2007) experience of ongoing surveillance of work-related injuries in a large synthetic fibre factory. Descriptive statistics were used to show the overall characteristics of work-related injuries. Associations between external causes of injury and the odds of an accident occurring that led to hospital referral were examined using logistic regression analyses.
ResultsIn total, 836 injury events were reported. Almost half of these (46%) involved injury to hand/wrist, while about a quarter (24%) of injuries were to the head and 10% to ankle/foot. Hospital referral after an injury was related mainly to falls [odds ratio (OR) 3.24, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.72-6.12, P , 0.001] and to work involving moving machinery (OR 1.99, 95% CI 1.12-3.55, P 5 0.01).Conclusions This study demonstrates that falls are a serious safety concern in the workplace. The results also show that 80% of injury events affected hand/wrist, ankle/foot or head; a finding which could be used in injury prevention efforts.
BackgroundHypertension is considered as a major public health problem in most countries due to its association with ischemic heart disease which causes cerebrovascular disease and death.ObjectivesThe purpose of the present study was to study factors affecting Blood Pressure (BP).Patients and MethodsThe data were extracted from annual observation of the workers who worked in Polyacryl Iran Corporation (PIC) between 1998 and 2010. In this research, we assessed the effect of Body Mass Index (BMI), age, sex, job status, marital status, job schedule type, and education level on Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) and Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP) using Bayesian multilevel modeling with skew t distribution using WinBUGS software.ResultsTotally 3965 persons participated in this study, 75(1.9%) female and 3890 (98.1%) male. In this study age, sex, BMI, job status, marital status, and education level had statistical association with SBP. The result for DBP was similar to SBP except the education level which had no statistical association.ConclusionsTreating obesity, increasing physical activity and quality of married life are proposed as practical solutions to reduce BP.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
