As a precise and permanent filling substance used for soft tissue augmentation, liquid injectable silicone can improve and/or eliminate depressed, broad-based acne scars through a technique known as the microdroplet, multiple-injection
Owing to its high permanence and to its inertness, reflected by the lack of any adverse reaction to its presence in the target site, silicone should be regarded as a valuable filler, at least for the correction of small depressed facial scars.
Dermal fillers are widely used in Medical and Surgical Cosmetic practices. Different compounds are available aiming at optimizing outcomes and patient satisfaction. Based on the duration of the filler effect, they have been classified into temporary, semipermanent, and permanent. It is reasonable to categorize semipermanent as longer lasting temporary. We believe it is practical to classify dermal fillers into temporary and permanent to avoid patients' confusion and avoid creating unclear classifications (Table 1). 1 Although temporary fillers are more commonly used for a wide variety of reasons, permanent fillers represent an excellent option in properly selected patients. The aim of this study is to evaluate the off-label use of Silikon 1000 (S1000) as a permanent filler analyzing safety, durability, and patient satisfaction. Methods This was a retrospective review of prospectively collected data. No institutional review board (IRB) was required for the project. The study included 25 patients who underwent S1000 injection in 32 treatment areas between October 2012 and June 2017. The following parameters were assessed: age, gender, weight, height, body mass index (BMI), number of treatments, duration of treatments, follow-up, complications,
