White-light interferograms provide a simple, accurate, and physically intuitive picture of what happens to broadband optical pulses on transmission through, or reflection from, common optical materials. Quantitative measurement of group delay are made with an accuracy of 60.1 fs and with high spectral resolution. This measurement accuracy is applied to the determination of d 2 n͞dl 2 and d 3 n͞dl 3 of fused silica with an accuracy of 65 3 10 25 mm 22 and 61 3 10 23 mm 23 , respectively. Further applications are found in the measurement of the dispersion of broadband mirrors and a multiple-quantum-well structure.
Abstract:The operation of a picosecond synchronously intracavity pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO) is reported. A magnesium doped lithium niobate crystal (MgO:PPLN), periodically poled, is used as the optical parametric oscillator crystal coupling the pump and the resonant signal cavities. The active medium of the pump cavity is a a diode pumped passively mode-locked Nd:YVO 4 crystal. Continuous mode-locked operation was achieved, tunable from 1531 to 1554 nm by adjusting the OPO crystal from 31 to 55• C. The spectral width of the generated radiation was 2 nm.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
