découvertes funéraires du Haut-Empire au sud de Tolosa : à l'instar d'une « petite Rome » ? Image idéalisée de la ville antique, de l'historiographie à la réalité archéologique »,
An archaeological excavation carried out during September 2004, in anticipation of the development project of the south RN.20 detour road of the Vernet municipality (31), revealed a protohistoric settlement which had already been located in Autumn 2003 by the archaeological expertise led on the road layout. The site has supplied an important batch of ceramic material, the great majority consisting of native productions, of which the assembly with the imported elements dates back to the 4th century BC. This remarkable corpus, which now constitutes a regional reference for the former period of La Tène on the Volque Tectosage territory, is almost unpublished. Even though the structures associated to these discoveries are rare, the existence of a rural establishment implanted on the edge of a channel can be foreseen in the close vicinity of the investigated sector. This settlement, nearly 2400 years old, seems to have developed between the Ariège and the meander of the channel we explored and renews the very incomplete documentation of this period.
