Starting from a typology of the investigated objects (manuscript/printed text, private/public) and the related enunciation processes, this paper shows the radical specificity of genetic criticism compared to classical textual criticism, particularly philology and Lanson-type criticism. This view is confirmed through a reconsideration of some coun-ter-examples, showing how markedly the new poetics of writing differs from the old text-centered poetics.
