Numerous determinations of boron fixed on clay minerals in Silurian Saharian sediments always give low values. It is therefore concluded that the deposits environment should be relatively low salted. This agrees with the hypothesis of the melting of an ice cap, the traces of which have been observed, chiefly in the N.W. Sahara.
