Voltage Source Converters (VSCs) can offer various control strategies to enable realization of the vision of a "Global Grid". With the increasing penetration of renewable energy sources, it is becoming more frequent for VSCs to be required to provide active and reactive power regulation. In this paper, a model of a grid-supporting VSC connected to a weak AC grid with low Short Circuit Capacity (SCC) and low inertia is presented. The impact of SCC and inertia is then illustrated by means of small-signal stability, H2 norm and large-disturbance analysis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
