Psychological well-being of women in a remote mining community might be improved through better local medical services, increased efforts at social inclusion and community connectedness, greater access to child care and better community infrastructure and pleasant surrounds. The findings also question the stereotypes of strong masculinist cultures and limited activities and services in such communities. Further research is highly recommended.
The average age of the companion animal is increasing owing to advances in medicine, diagnostics, surgery and nutrition. Our pet populations are living longer and healthier lives with the average lifespan of a dog increasing by 70% since the 1930s (Garred, ). As a result, veterinary professionals are required to spend an increasing amount of clinical time caring for an ageing pet population.
It is widely known that frequent health checks are beneficial to patient health, allowing for identification of health‐related issues as well as client education. Geriatric patients are not an exception to this rule. In fact it has been demonstrated that they are part of the patient demographic who may benefit most from frequent health screening.
