A 66-year-old man was diagnosed as having aplastic anaemia in 1963. He was treated with androgens and fetal liver transplant. In 1972, bone marrow showed gross dyserythropoietic change. He subsequently developed a myeloproliferative syndrome, which transformed into acute myeloid leukaemia. He died 16 years after his initial presentation.
