People speak the Panasuan language in the northern part of Kalumpang District and the western part of Seko District, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province. The Panusuan language is distinct from the other languages spoken on West Sulawesi. This distinction exists in the semantic aspect, particularly in denotative and connotative meanings. The research aims to express the denotative and connotative meanings of Panasuan language. The technique used is descriptive-qualitative, with listening, engaging, and notetaking. Data analysis includes the steps of identifying, selecting, classifying, and presenting data. The findings revealed that the Panusuan language requires a figurative meaning other than what it currently has. Some figurative meanings are found in this research, and those figurative can have two meanings; it depends on the sentence that follows them. The findings of this study are significant in expanding the knowledge for observers of regional languages in the archipelago and one of the efforts to preserve regional languages in Indonesia.
Giving self-naming, or 'pattelareng,' is a Buginese concept that differs from the naming system in other cultures. The self-naming represents the Buginese community's identity that includes symbols, meaning, or cultural markers. In the Buginese culture, a self-naming system, or 'pattelareng,' is assigned to them based on their aims and objectives; aside from the meaning, the naming to the Buginese people also concerns the unique pattern or shape. Cultural values are inextricably linked to the naming of the Buginese society. This study investigates the pattern and meaning of naming or 'pattelareng' for the Buginese community. The research was carried out utilizing qualitative methodologies, with data collected through observation and literature review. The data was analyzed using a sociolinguistic technique based on various theories, including Onomastics and Semantics. The study's findings demonstrate that the Buginese naming system is based on social status, gender, biological attributes, personality, behavior, hope, natural events, and specific situations in general. Meanwhile, language's position in the Buginese community's naming system, or 'pattelareng,' provides a meaning interpretation that includes positive and negative qualities. In addition, the modern Buginese name system has changed in both form and meaning. Self-naming has become more straightforward, more efonic, and has adopted more names from other cultures..
The paper aims to examine the transitivity of the Panasuan language verb as a minor language in West Sulawesi Province. The qualitative descriptive method was applied in this investigation. The verbal data was gathered through oral interviews. The verbal data is the speech of native Panasuan language speakers, and it contains transitive verbs. Of course, the informants are native Panasuan speakers. The deletion, noting, and elicitation techniques had used to collect the distributional method. There are three steps to interactive data analysis: reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The study's findings show that the Panasuan language contains the properties of a predicate-functioning verb. From a semantic standpoint, the Panasuan language verb has an intrinsic meaning. The Panasuan language also means "inherently action" and "inherently process." In the Panasuan language, the verb operates as a predicate in unobjected and unfinished sentences, classified as nontransitive sentences.
