Single-use dual blade goniotomy plus phacoemulsification resulted in a significant and sustained reduction in IOP and a decrease in glaucoma medications after 6 months of follow-up.

Using scanning laser polarimetry it was possible to detect changes in retinal nerve fiber layer thickness in glaucomatous dogs at early stages of the disease. Therefore, this instrument has the potential to improve the clinical management of canine glaucoma by detecting progressive changes to the retinal nerve fiber layer.

One of the main complications of the double-cuffed chronic peritoneal dialysis catheters is cuff erosion, with or without exit-site infection. We present a simple technique, which allows partial replacement of the external catheter segment with splicing. In addition it can be used to replace the intraperitoneal segment, leaving undisturbed the external segment and exit site. This technique can be carried out under local anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure, without interrupting treatment and with less trauma than total catheter replacement. This paper describes our experience with 20 external catheter replacements in 17 patients followed up to 20 months.

In many countries like ours the actual prevalence of the disease is not know. Globally is estimated by 2020 there will be approximately 5.9 million blind due to bilateral primary open-angle glaucoma, this blindness is preventable making important to identify those people that may be at risk because of their characteristics, placing them under the diagnosis of glaucoma suspect.

Sin embargo, la nefrectomía radical no está exenta de ellas. Presentamos el caso de un pseudoaneurisma de la arteria renal principal con comunicación fistulosa a colon ascendente tras nefrectomía radical. El paciente debutó con un episodio de shock hipovolémico debido a hemorragia digestiva baja. Pseudoaneurysm of the main renal artery associated to cecal fistula after radical nephrectomy: a clinical case and literature review SUMMARY: Vascular complications secondary to surgical treatment of localized kidney cancer are more frequent when a nephronsparing surgery is performed. However, radical nephrectomy is not exempt from them. We report the case of a pseudoaneurysm of the main renal artery with fistulous communication to ascending colon after radical nephrectomy. The patient presented with an episode of hypovolemic shock due to lower gastrointestinal bleeding.
