Purpose: This study aimed to collect basic data to educate adult men about the importance of skincare and to direct product research and development by identifying the use patterns of acne-only cosmetics in adult men based on the severity of their acne.Method: A nationwide online survey of 300 adult men in their 20s to 40s with acne-prone skin was conducted. The questionnaire had 36 questions in total, and questions related to acne occurrence and recognition level were evaluated using photos representing grades 1 to 6 of the Korean acne severity system listed in the Skin Science Journal, and data analysis was performed using the statistical package SPSS/WIN 23.0.Results: The longer the acne progression period, the higher the acne level. The skincare regimen involved acne-only cosmetics although studies have shown that the effectiveness of cosmetics is inadequate. Furthermore, in the acne group with low acne level, participants did not use dedicated cosmetics or take care of their skin because the cost was prohibitive and the problem was likely to worsen. Conclusion: This study provided insights on adult men's perceptions of acne-prone skin care and use of acne-only cosmetics based on the severity of acne. Further research by experts is required to confirm these findings.
This study was conducted in a cross-sectional correlation design to identify factors affecting the practice of COVID-19 prevention activities in patients with heart diseases. A convenience sample of 195 patients with heart diseases from one tertiary teaching hospital completed questionnaires with items from the characteristics of these participants, their knowledge, attitude, and practice related to COVID-19 prevention activities. Participants’ knowledge, attitude, and practice for COVID-19 prevention were relatively high but there was a significant difference in the degree of practice of COVID-19 prevention activities according to the characteristics of the participants. The higher the level of their knowledge and the more positive their attitude, the higher their practice. Attitude and information check about COVID-19 prevention were factors that influenced the practice of COVID-19 prevention activities, with an explanatory power of 32%. This study can help motivate and actively encourage COVID-19 prevention practices.
As popular music grows, lyrics are taking a more important part of the pop music. In the thesis suggests that to prove that each can I maximize based on the lyrics' emotions, the study compares between a sense of cheerful and sad songs. For this reason, many emotional words were extracted by various word expressions in the cheerful songs and limited expressions of grief sensibilities were shown through relatively small amount of emotional words in the sorrowful songs.
In general, intracranial germ cell tumors (GCT) are sensitive to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and have favorable outcomes. However, a rare chemotherapeutic retro conversion phenomenon, known as intracranial growing teratoma syndrome (iGTS), shown a poorer prognosis. We analyze the diagnostic characteristics and the result of treatment response for the patients with iGTS treated in our institutes (SNUH and SNUBH, from 1997 to 2019). The electronic medical records and PACS were used for reviewing the clinical information, follow-up MRI images, tumor markers (alpha-fetoprotein, human chorionic gonadotropin, in serum or cerebrospinal fluids), and pathological findings. Out of 328 intracranial GCT patients, seventeen were finally identified as iGTS. Sixteen out of 17 patients were non-germinomatous GCTs, and 1 were germinomas. Initial pathology was common in order of immature teratoma (26.7%), other than immature teratoma (11.5%), and germinoma (0.5%). All of the tumors showed typical ‘honeycomb appearance’ in their follow-up MRI images. Sixteen out of 17 tumors were surgically resected as 2nd look surgery. Among them, 13 tumors were gross totally resected. Twelve were alive without evidence of recurrences during follow-up periods, and the other was dead from the progression of the disease. Among the other than the gross total resection group (n=4), two patients were dead, one recurred the tumor, and the other is following up with stable disease after adjuvant radiation therapy. Early detection and total resection of the tumor as possible might be meaningful for favor prognosis, especially in non-germinomatous GCTs patients.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
