A new method was successfully developed to improve porous titanium with thicker struts. There are two steps for this method. Firstly, the raw porous titanium with ~90% porosity was made by traditional polymeric sponge coating; then, the raw porous titanium was coated by a thin slurry to get thicker struts. It was called 'Double Coating'. After treatment by double coating, the mechanical properties of porous titanium were improved significantly. The compressive strength was increased from 10.33±3.3MPa to 35.5±7MPa, making the material useful for load-bearing applications.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
