The von Mises distribution is a convenient model for directional scenarios owing to its circular support, simple bellshaped form, and smooth transition amongst many distributions. In this paper, we use the von Mises distribution as the angular power distribution to quantify the spacing for antennas to be uncorrelated. The results are well-defined and provide a stable and versatile framework for the design and configuration of spaced antennas in directional scenarios. Example solutions are given for a power correlation coefficient of 0.5 and a wide range of directionality expressed as the half-power beamwidth.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
