Although it might not affect the HCC-promoting potential of Ct-HBx, NA treatment is effective in normalizing liver function, decreasing HBV-HCC recurrence, and improving postoperative survival. This effect should be validated in a multicenter phase III RCT.
Liver resection is justified in selected patients with PVTT located in the segmental or sectoral branches of the portal vein. However, surgical resection for PVTT involving the portal bifurcation or the main trunk is still controversial.
In patients with HCC with macroscopic PVTT treated by partial hepatectomy with or without thrombectomy, our PVTT classification better stratified and predicted prognosis than the TNM staging, CLIP scoring system, and JIS scoring system, which were unrefined and inadequate for this group of patients.
Although nucleoside analogs did not reduce short-term recurrence rate, they promoted postoperative viral clearance and increased residual liver volume, which significantly enhanced tolerance to subsequent therapy for disease recurrence.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
