Abstract. In this paper, the basic principles of 3D printing technology was briefly introduced and several methods of 3D printing for metal materials were introduced in details, including Electron Beam Melting (EBM), Selective Laser Melting forming (SLM), Selective Laser Sintering forming (SLS), Laser Direct Melting Deposition (LDMD). Then, the application field of 3D printing for metal materials and its development were briefly introduced. At the end of this paper, combined with the status of 3D printing for metal materials, it was pointed out that 3D printing for metal materials should focus on printing powder, 3D printing equipment for metal materials, 3D printing parts nondestructive testing methods, 3D printing parts failure behavior and life prediction , and the establishment of non-destructive testing for 3D printing parts of the standard and the database of 3D printing materials comprehensive mechanical properties.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
