Small- and medium Micro Enterprises (SMME) of fish processing in Ambon City play an important role in employment and income, but identified that the enterprises deal with developing problems. The objectives of this research are to identify characteristics of the micro enterprises of fish processing, to analyze financial feasibility, and to identify determinant of development of the micro enterprises of fish processing in Ambon city. Primary data were gathered from six micro enterprise units of fish processing using survey technique, while secondary data were obtained from official publications. Data were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods. The results show that the micro enterprises of the fish processing are categorized as a small- and medium enterprise (SMME) based on the business capital, level of production, ineffectual function of institution, locally product marketing, and lack of management skill in business. Empirical results indicate the SMME of CV. Nacha and PT. Maluku Maya Mandiri are feasible to be developed. Some factors that need to be concerned in developing the SMME of fish processing in Ambon city are of capital availability, skilled worker, product promotion, and marketing strategy.
Inputs diversity among fishermen while catching can result in different number of cathes. The use of good inputs and efficient fishing gears leads to increasing of fishermen's income. This research was conducted during October 2019 on 15 hand-line fishermen in Yainuelo, Amahai District, Central Maluku Regency. The purpose of this study was to calculate the hand-line fishermen income and to compare the income among them. The results show that the average income of hand line boat fishermen in October 2019 was Rp. 3,444,357 and six of the fifteen fishermen get income above the average value, while the rest are below the average
Kapasitas penangkapan berlebih merupakan suatu masalah kritis padaperikanan tangkap. Berkaitan dengan isu kapasitas tersebut, kajian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan kapasitas penangkapan ikan pelagis kecil di wilayah pengelolaan perikanan-714 Laut Banda, dengan menggunakan data runtun waktu periode tahun 1985-2006 yang dianalisis dengan teknik data envelopment analysis. Terdapat indikasi excess capacity pada perikanan pelagis kecil, dan pada periode tahun 1989-1998 kondisi perikanan menunjukan over capacity. Dengan demikian, dibutuhkan alternatif kebijakan pengelolaan perikanan untuk mengurangi input penangkapan pada perikanan di wilayah pengelolaan perikanan-714 Laut Banda.Excessive fishing capacity is a critical problem in marine capture fisheries. In line with the capacity issue, this study was conducted to determine fishing capacity of the small pelagic fishery at fishery management area-714 Banda Sea using time series data of 1985-2006 analyzed using technique of data envelopment analysis. There was indication of excess capacity on the small pelagic fishery, and the fishery in the period of 1989-1998 was found to be over capacity. Therefore, alternative fishery management policies were needed to reduce fishing inputs from the fishery of the fishery management area-714 Banda Sea.
