An 11-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat was presented for polydipsia, hyperactivity and bilateral thyroid gland enlargement. Total T4 (TT4) was in the upper interval range; therefore, an early hyperthyroidism was suspected. A treatment trial with methimazole was started, as the owner refused further tests. Six months later the owner stopped the treatment. One year later, clinical signs persisted and TT4 was still in the upper interval range. Methimazole was re-introduced but 48 h later the cat presented non-pruritic alopecia with erythema, scales and perilesional yellowish crusts. Pyogranulomatous mural folliculitis was diagnosed by histopatological examination of the skin biopsies. Methimazole was withdrawn and macroscopic lesions healed and disappeared histologically in 15 days. An idiosyncratic drug reaction to methimazole was suspected. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of feline pyogranulomatous mural folliculitis likely secondary to an adverse drug reaction to methimazole administration.
Resumen. En este trabajo se hace una propuesta para un mejor entendimiento del comportamiento de la arteria aorta ascendente. Se propone que la onda dicrota que aparece en la curva de presión es el resultado del estímulo a un material hiperelástico. Dicha propuesta es puesta a prueba mediante la simulación numérica de la interacción del flujo sanguíneo con la pared arterial. Se resuelven las ecuaciones de Navier-Stokes con las condiciones iniciales y propiedades físicas propias del flujo sanguíneo para una persona en promedio sana; de manera simultánea los campos obtenidos, (presión y velocidad), alimentan los forzamientos de la estructura sólida, (pared arterial), para así obtener el comportamiento de la arteria aorta bajo la influencia del flujo sanguíneo. La aproximación a las soluciones de las ecuaciones dictaminantes y el acoplamiento de ambas estructuras se realiza mediante un conjunto de algoritmos para resolver el problema de la interacción del flujo sanguíneo con la pared arterial en 3D utilizando un método que proporciona acoplamiento débil y que es, en general, válido para modelos constitutivos no-lineales y con grandes deformaciones. Los resultados obtenidos son similares a los obtenidos en la clínica Palabras clave. Interacción fluido-estructura, hiperelástico, onda de presión, onda dicrota, modelo de Ogden.
