Resumen Se revisa la situación de las organizaciones aymara y atacameñas en las regiones andinas de Chile, enfatizando el papel crucial de las agencias estatales en la formación y funcionamiento de dichas organizaciones, especialmente debido a su necesidad de contar con interlocutores organizados. Se discuten los conflictos y tensiones dentro de la comunidad indígena, la más nueva y dominante figura organizativa.
RESUMENEl artículo analiza y compara el desarrollo de las dos principales instituciones estatales que han atendido los asuntos indígenas en Chile: DASIN/IDI (1953-1978 y CONADI (1994 en adelante). Se muestra la importancia del movimiento indígena en su creación y las dificultades comunes que han enfrentado, entre ellas la falta de apoyo amplio dentro del Poder Legislativo. Se plantea, finalmente, la existencia de una crisis institucional de la política indigenista.Palabras claves: Pueblos originarios, Estado, movimiento indígena, CONADI.
