We show in this paper that the common method of specifying ∆T min in design of heat exchanger systems may lead to wrong decisions and should be used with care. Although specifying ∆T min is reasonable for heat exchanger networks synthesis with given stream data, it should not generally be used for obtaining optimal design data -and especially not stream data (temperatures). An alternative simple TAC method is suggested and compared with the ∆T min -method on three vapour compression (refrigeration) cycle case studies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
