A new spiral patch microstrip antenna frequency independent, able to generate a range of frequencies for the transmission and reception of ultrawideband signals, is presented. This antenna operates perfectly with frequencies above 2 GHz without the need for adjustments in its parameters. Measured results have been compared with simulated results and found to be in a good agreement. The spiral antenna produces a remarkable bandwidth to VSWR 2:1. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new metamaterial structure was proposed. The model is an extension of the case circular SRR of Pendry. In the analysis of the structure were obtained characteristics of negative permeability different from the original model. A fractal modular composition with split triangles resonator was produced and simulations and prototypes of microstrip antennas were performed. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article describes an accentuated investigation about applications of slots in patch of microstrip antennas. Many antennas, with or without slots, were simulated, constructed, measured and analyzed. Specifications with different slots models as horizontals, verticals and angular were used. Different resonant frequencies and bandwidths are shown through graphics, as well as the comparison between proposed antennas demonstrate that slots are qualified devices.
