The prevalence of caries in the gipsy population is very high, and it is probably associated with factors previously reported but not yet controlled. There is a need to initiate therapeutic and preventive measures in this community, and to detect barriers and facilitate the use of public dentistry services.
Purpose
The increase in the prevalence "long-term cancer survivor” (LCS) patients is expected to increase the cost of LCS care. The aim of this study was to obtain information that would allow to optimise the current model of health management in Spain to adapt it to one of efficient LCS patient care.
Methods
This qualitative study was carried out using Delphi methodology. An advisory committee defined the criteria for participation, select the panel of experts, prepare the questionnaire, interpret the results and draft the final report.
Results
232 people took part in the study (48 oncologists). Absolute consensus was reached in three of the proposed sections: oncological epidemiology, training of health professionals and ICT functions.
Conclusion
The role of primary care in the clinical management of LCS patients needs to be upgraded, coordination with the oncologist and hospital care is essential. The funding model needs to be adapted to determine the funding conditions for new drugs and technologies.
Psoriasis is a chronic, systemic inflammatory disease that affects the skin, with a high impact on patients’ quality of life. The aim of this study was to identify and determine the relative importance of unmet needs in the management of moderate-to-severe psoriasis in Spain, from a multi-stakeholder perspective. A mixed method-approach was used to collect information, design a questionnaire and a discrete-choice exercise, and elicit the unmet needs through a multidisciplinary committee composed of 12 experts. A total of 65 unmet needs were identified and categorized into 4 areas: clinical, patient-related, decision-making process, and social. Decision-making process unmet needs were perceived as the most pressing ones, followed by social, clinical and patient-related. Individually, the need to incorporate outcomes that are important to the patients and to have treatments that achieve total clearance with a rapid onset of action and long-term persistence were the most important unmet needs.
