The objective of this article was to identify the phytotherapics used for weight loss marketed in pharmacies. A descriptive, field-based, quantitative approach was conducted with a focus on data collection through portfolios of pharmacies that market herbal medicines for weight loss. Two manipulation pharmacies that market herbal medicines, among them those used for weight loss, were part of the scope of the research. After analyzing the results, a list of 17 herbal products marketed in a municipality in the state of Maranhão was obtained. According to the results of the research, it was observed that the municipality presents a significant variety of herbal medicines marketed that bring, within all their therapeutic actions, benefits for the individuals who are in search of weight loss, encompassing several forms of action in the body. Among the phytotherapics marketed for weight loss, it was identified that the most used pharmaceutical form is in capsules. The present study had as objective to verify the effectiveness of the use of lithium in the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. It is a review of the integrative type, using articles published in the years 2011 to 2014, available in PubMed, ScienceDirect and Scielo databases. Recent studies have shown that dietary supplementation with lithium prevented the increase of inflammatory mediators in the rat brain, leading to apparent therapeutic neuroprotective effects of lithium. It also leads to increased neurogenesis in the hippocampal gyrus and appears to increase gray matter, evidence that lithium has a neuroprotective action in the treatment of symptoms associated with Alzheimer's disease. It was observed that the use of lithium in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease has some positive effects, however, more detailed studies are needed.
Obesity and vitamin D deficiency are prevalent problems worldwide, and are apparently related to each other, although the mechanisms of cause and effect of this combination are still unknown. This study aimed to highlight through a literature review the relationship between vitamin D and overweight and obese children and adolescents. This is a literature review of the narrative type, for its construction we used the following databases: Scielo, VHL and Google Scholar. Given the important role played by vitamin D in the human body, in addition to its relationship with chronic noncommunicable diseases, as well as the increased prevalence of overweight and obesity due to inadequate diet in the childhood and adolescent life cycles. , it is necessary to develop research of this nature, since there is a lack of studies on the theme
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
