This paper discusses conversion methods between multiple decrement models and associated single decrement models. One of most popular assumptions on fractional age is UDD(uniform distribution of decrement) or constant force of mortality in actuarial practice. Instead of these assumptions, this paper suggests cubic spline interpolation to approximate the distribution of fractional age with the continuous force of decrements. Conversion formulas are derived. The comparisons of these two methods based on the numerical data show that the cubic spline interpolation approach is more accurate. Keywords: Multiple decrement, associated single decrement, cubic spline interpolation, continuously force of decrement, uniform distribution of decrement.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
