The crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic affects the daily operation of organisations, which also brings changes in the life of their workforce. Managing organisational change has been a significant challenge for organisations for several decades. The aim of the research is to assess the behaviour of affected employees toward organisational change. It is examined how different groups of employee’s experience change in general and what they think about organisational change. Furthermore, it is explored whether employees understand the motivation behind the change and how does the change impact their organisation. To answer the research questions, a comprehensive questionnaire survey of small and medium-sized enterprises in Hungary was conducted in autumn 2021. The suitability of the application of factor analysis evaluating the dependence of selected areas of the questionnaire was supported by Barlett test a Cronbach’s alfa coefficient. For individual hypotheses two-sample t-test, contingency table analysis, and Pearson’s Chi-squared test, were applied. The evaluation of the 215 questionnaires shows that the behaviour of employees toward organisational changes is different. The difference in attitudes to the benefit of organizational change for employees were identified, but not for enterprise. Furthermore, the difference in attitudes between employees who have undergone organizational change in the enterprise and those who have not undergone organizational change, were identified too. It is interesting that contingency between the extent to which managers play a role in change and the well-executed nature of change were detected. The practical usage of the research can be helpful for SME management, especially in the HR field. The management can consider that employees may be afraid of the changes if they are ahead of them, but if the change is handled well, people will think positively of it.
A vizsgálat eredményei többnyire a szakirodalmi adatokat igazolták. _____ It is widely known, that women play an important role in the economy, which makes the determination of motives and obstacles during business start-ups inevitable. Hungarian female students were surveyed during an international study in 2011 to determine the factors of entrepreneurial intentions. The survey included among other factors the motives for self‐employment, the personal characteristics and the barriers they faced. Results revealed that primary motivations for females during business start-ups were not only monetary motives, but also intrinsic factors. Problems faced by Hungarian female students were mainly individual; the organizationalenvironmental ones had lower importance. Results on motives and barriers were mostly consistent with the authors’ literature findings.
One of the most important categories of local impact studies is the investigations about the roles of a large company in the life of a small and medium-sized towns. The first part of this paper analyses this question on a conceptual, theoretical level and by the help of literature review. A systematic overview will be given on the different roles of big companies, such as in the field of economy, labour market, infrastructure, land use, traffic, local services, local taxes, demography, culture, milieu, lifestyle, politics, education, tourism and others. There can be both positive and negative side of the dominance, for example local labour market can be more stable and more vulnerable at the same time. There is a scarcity of the empirical research on these questions, mainly due to the complexity and the business secret character of some detail. The second part of the paper gives a comparative analysis about the role of Audi Hungary Company in the western Hungarian medium-sized town, Győr, which is the sixth biggest settlement in Hungary. It is an interesting test case, because the role and importance of the Audi is significantly larger than in other big companies in similar city size category in Hungary, but its weight is not extremely large in international comparison.
