The purpose of this article was to determine what reasons speech-language pathologists (SLPs) report for patient noncompliance with swallowing recommendations and to determine how SLPs deal with noncompliance. Method: Eight SLPs working in health care settings were interviewed. Results: All of the participants reported patient noncompliance with swallowing recommendations due to reasons discussed by Colodny (2005). The reason "dissatisfaction with diet modifications" was reported by all participants.
