Hairtail fishing (Trichiurus sp) in Palabuhanratu using handline is highly dependent on fishing bait. The bait which is usually used by fishermen is natural bait which is a piece of trash fish. The purpose of this research is to find bait alternative as a replacement of natural bait for hairtail fishing. Three type of baits used in this research were natural bait as a control, artificial bait and combination between natural and artificial bait. The aims of this research are to prove that artificial baits can increas the catch and to determine the effective time for handline fishing operations. Three kinds of baits were operated at the same time on a single unit of handline fishing boats for 22 days. The research using comparative descriptive analysis and statistical analysis completely randomized design (RAL). The results showed that combination bait can capture 453 hairtails or 52% of the total catch which is more than artificial bait that catch 223 hairtails 25% and natural bait that catch 203 hairtails 23%. The best time of the capture is between 05:00 am to 07:00 am that catch 379 hairtail or 43% of the total catch, and then at 07.00 am to 09:00 am and 09:00 am to 11:00 am, each captured 298 fish 34%, and 202 fish 23%.
The Success of kakatua fish catching (family scaridae) using very good handline was determined by bait. The type of bait that is always used by fishermen are crab and anchovy. The objectives of the study were 1) to determine the type of bait that faster to catch kakatua fish in large quantities, and 2) to determine the most effective time to catch kakatua fish in handline operation. Research activities were conducted in Watdek waters, Southeast Moluccas in March to May 2017. The catching operation is done simultaneously by two fisherman who use handlines above the speed boat. In one day 4 catching were made, between 06: 00-08: 00 am, 08: 00-10: 00 am, 14: 00-16: 00 pm, and 16: 00-18: 00 pm. This study used a comparative descriptive analysis method to analyze the difference time of kakatua fish catching. While statistical analysis of complete randomized design (RAL) was used to see the effect of bait type on the number of catches. The results showed that the crab bait obtained the highest, namely 318 fish or 70% and anchovy bait catch 135 fish or 30%. The best time to catch the kakatua fish (family scaridae) is at 06.00-08.00 am get 226 fish or 50%, 08.00-10.00 am gets 108 fish or (24%), at 16.00-18.00 pm gets 57 fish or (13%) and at 14.00- 16.00 pm gets 62 fish or 14%.
The fishing of kurisi fish (nemipterus nematophorus) using handline in Watdek waters Southeast Maluku district in November 2019. Types of anchovy bait (sardinella leiogaster) and tumel (dendronereis pinnaticirris) are used to catch kurisi fish. The fishing time is divided into two, namely at 07.00 – 10.00 a.m and at 14.00 – 17 p.m. The method used is a comparative descriptive analysis method to see the difference in the time of catching kurisi fish to the catching result and statistical analysis of a completely randomized design (CRD) to see the influence of the bait on the number of catching result. The total number of kurisi fish caught was 498. Tumel bait gets the most catches, 352 (71%), while anchovy bait only get 146 fish (29%). The most effective time for catching kurisi fish is at 07.00 a.m – 10.00 a.m, getting 349 fish (74%) and at 14.00 – 17.00 p.m get 123 fish (26%).
