We examine the effect of temperature on the molding of chalcogenide glass for infrared (IR) lens fabrication and evaluate a molded chalcogenide glass lens. Both the adhesion of the chalcogenide glass to the mold's surface and lens breakage depended on the initial heating temperature and on the molding temperatures in the glass molding process. In addition, the molded chalcogenide glass lens was evaluated based on transcription characteristics of the mold's surface, IR transmittance, and x-ray diffraction patterns. From the analysis results, we verified that the chalcogenide glass lens for IR imaging application could be fabricated by well-controlled temperature conditions.
The reliability of an eddy current testing (ECT) inspection system depends upon the inspection technique and quality of analyst. In evaluating the integrity of a steam generator (SG) tube, degradation detection and sizing accuracy are considered performance measures of the nondestructive evaluation (NDE) system. A probability of detection (POD) model serves as a functional measure of the ability of an NDE system to detect degradation. It is one of the inputs in the operational assessment, and it is used to estimate the degradation during service via ECT of the SG tube. In this study, the POD functions of the inspection technique and analyst were obtained to quantitatively analyze the ECT bobbin probe for axial outside diameter stress corrosion cracks in SG tubes. This should serve to evaluate the integrity of the SG tubes. The depth and amplitude of defects were used as parameters of the POD model. Hit (detection) and miss (no detection) binary data obtained from destructive and nondestructive inspection of cracked tubes were also used.
The authenticity of bank note is threatened by increasing a counterfeit note with development of the information industry, recently. The importance of counterfeit discrimination is stressed, but there is a limits to popularization. Because usually, the existing counterfeit discriminator uses invisible ray zone like UV, IR, etc. The purpose of this paper is the construction of counterfeit discrimination system for ₩50,000 bills. This system is used optical fiber sensor with excellent confidence as well as easy way of using in wave length of a visible ray zone. The light was altered by lightening optical fiber sensor to particular part of bank notes in order displacing response of optical fiber sensor. The experiment was processed with data of 100 bank notes on manufacture optical fiber, probe, jig. As a result, the discrimination conuterfeit was verified when the experiment was processing with hologram or CSI on the bank notes with three kinds of color printer.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
