Type I diabetes, though contributes to only 5–10% of total diabetes cases, is a rising concern in today’s world. Our previous studies have shown that the absence of WDR13 in mouse results in pancreatic β-cell hyper-proliferation. Also, amelioration of the diabetic phenotype on introgression of Wdr13-null (Wdr13-/0) mutation in genetically diabetic mice (Leprdb/db) [type II diabetes] was observed. It was thus, interesting to see the role of WDR13 in streptozotocin-mediated diabetes in mice, a model for type I diabetes. Wdr13-/0 mice along with its wild type (Wdr13+/0 mice) littermates were administered streptozotocin intraperitoneally for 5 consecutive days. Blood glucose levels and body weights of these mice were monitored for subsequent 5 weeks and then they were sacrificed for physiological and histological analyses. Results showed that Wdr13-/0 mice exhibited higher serum insulin levels, better glucose clearance and significantly higher number of proliferating β-cells; reiterating the finding that absence of WDR13 helps in β-cell hyper-proliferation and recovery from diabetes; further underscoring WDR13 as a key target molecule for diabetes treatment/amelioration.
Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) can self-organize into a blastocyst-like structure (blastoid) by virtue of their full developmental potential. The pluripotent mouse embryonic stem cells (mESC) are considered to lack this potential and hence can form blastoids only when combined with trophoblast stem cells. We performed a small molecule and cytokine screen to demonstrate that mESC have full potential to efficiently self-organize themselves into E-blastoids (ESC-blastoids). The morphology, cell lineages and the transcriptome of these blastoids resemble the mouse blastocyst. The E-blastoids undergo implantation and in utero development in mice. The transient reactivation of the 2C-gene network by retinoid signaling is essential for E-blastoid generation. GSK3b activity is critical for retinoid signaling and consequent 2C gene network activation. Collectively, the mESC possess full developmental potential to generate blastoids similar to hPSCs and other mammals. The plasticity of PSCs to self-organize into blastoids is not exclusive to humans or larger mammals; rather, it could be a general feature shared by most mammals, including rodents.

of breast cases, 60 were subjected for ER and PR expression. Among 60 cases, both E Results: R+/PR+ were 34(56.66%)cases and both ER-/PR–
were 21(35%)cases. Conclusion: Present study establish a correlation between ER and PR expression with tumor histomorphology, Grading and
Staging of the tumor.
