Pediatric dentists should always aim for esthetic and functional rehabilitation of decayed/traumatized primary teeth. The most common method for restoring such teeth involves the use of “strip crowns” with composites, while the recent trend is toward using other extracoronal restorations including preve-neered stainless steel crowns and zirconia crowns. All these restorative options have shown good success rates, but also have some limitations. This case series depicts novel clinical technique of using a temporization material for full-coronal restoration(s) in primary anterior teeth. This included the chair-side custom fabrication of full-coronal restoration using temporization material, which has resulted in good immediate esthetics and might be a cost-effective alternative for restoring primary anterior teeth in future. How to cite this articleGugnani N, Pandit IK, Gupta M, Nagpal J. The rapid population growth, economic development and changing life style caused improper use of water. Delhi, which is already facing shortage of water, is going to face worse in near future. Unfortunately, with diminishing resources of water, the human behaviour towards water conservation is not changing. Therefore, this paper was designed to understand the proper utilization and consumption pattern of water in selected areas of NCT, Delhi. The study examined the household daily and activity wise water consumption, sources of water, perception on quality, gender and water and the level of awareness about rainwater harvesting. The finding shows that the higher income group urban area people are using more water than lower income group locality people. However, majority of the households are not satisfied with duration of water supply. It is also observed that the majority of respondents are not aware about rainwater harvesting technology. This needs to be addressed immediately by changing public perception towards water use through media and by organizing public awareness programs. It is hoped that the results of the study would benefit the urban development authorities in optimizing the existing water resources through proper distribution system viz-a-viz society.
Background: New restorative materials and techniques continue to appear in the market, the knowledge of which is required, to make an informed decision on the most suitable successful and cost effective treatment strategy. Aim: To compare and evaluate the Shear bond strength of different glass ionomer cements used in Pediatric dentistry. Materials and Methods: 60 Premolars were taken which were extracted due to orthodontic reasons. The extracted teeth were cleaned with a disinfectant and stored in distilled water at room temperature until further use. The teeth were divided into five groups: Group A: Anhydrous GIC, Group B: Giomer. All the samples were then subjected to shear bond strength test using universal testing machine. The data collected was tabulated and statistically analyzed using Anova one way test followed by tukey post Hoc HSD test using SPSS 16.0 software. Results: The Mean Shear bond strength was found to be maximum for Group B (Giomer) i.e. 2.90±0.55. Conclusion: Research and technology has revolutionized dental procedures. This revolution has occurred at such a rapid pace that it has become almost over whelming to the clinician who must take decision based on combination of experience and current trends.
Review ArticleTechniques for maxillary sinus augmentation 1. Lateral window approach/direct sinus lift [15] 2. Transcrestal approach/indirect sinus lift [16] 3. Minimal invasive surgery Background: Present article describes the various treatment modalities available for posterior maxillary rehabilitation. Preservation of the remains and restoration of the missing is needy to maintain the form and function of the stomatognathic system. Loss of a tooth can be common in any of the arches. The rehabilitation of the lost dental and alveolar part in the maxillary arch is more technique sensitive in comparison to the corresponding arch. The inferior quality of bone in comparison to the mandibular arch fixed restorative procedures is quite cumbersome to the practitioner. This article is an attempt to explain the various options that can be opted for the rehabilitation of the edentulous maxillary arch according to the diagnosed condition of the individual.
