FIR digital filters find immense applications in mobile communications systems such as channel equalization, channelization, matched filtering and pulse shaping, due to their absolute stability and linear phase properties. In this paper it is proposed to design a practical FIR filter using MATLAB tool to obtain the response. After that the filter will be designed and analyzed based on canonical signed digits and compared with the distributed arithmetic algorithm in order to minimize the power consumption and fast implementation of the filter. The design filter will be simulated and synthesized using Xilinx ISE 13.1 software.
