Studies on the activities of some glycolytic enzymes were carried out in normal, chronic cervicitis, and malignant human cervix uteri. In general, all the enzymes of glycolysis except glucose phosphate isomerase increases supporting the increased production of lactic acid. In chronic cervicitis tissue which also shows a higher rate of glucose utilization than normal tissue, but a lower rate of lactate production than cancer tissue, the increase in the activity of several enzymes is observed. However, compared to cancer, there is no change in glucose-6-phosphatase and aldolase activities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
